Sun setting behind trees

Have been ill last week, so no paintings. Today however, I went outside again with fellow artist Roderick Brenninkmeijer. Made 3 small paintings. This one, with the sun setting behind a wall of trees, I liked best. I especially liked the way the sun just shines over the tops, making a small glare at the intersection of the two rows of trees...

Sun setting behind trees, 18x12 cm, oil on masonite.

You can Buy this painting now.

Great power in the simplification and abstraction of this piece. Those subtle, understated touches of color are just right.

The ability to say so much with such simplicity is wonderful in this painting.
