Ooysedijk

Painted the view from the Batavierenroad into the Ooijpolder and the Ooysedijk (Nijmegen, Holland) again today. Unlike last time it was nice weather, but in the distance it still seemed a bit foggy. The painting turned out quite smudgy and with a lot of soft edges. Quite like this effect in a landscape. I think this is partly due to the home made gesso by local art supplies dealer Pro Art. This gesso is quite absorbant and contains a relatively small amount of acrylic binder.

Ooysedijk, 19x15 cm, oil on masonite.

Nice composition Jos!!

I think if you take a little linseed oil mixed in turp, and rub that on the board it will take the absorption off. You have to let it dry first though!
